Downhill and cross-country skiing, snow tubing and sleigh rides can be enjoyed at Hidden Valley, Seven Springs, and Laurel Mountain Ski Resorts. There is stockcar racing at the Jennerstown Raceway and excellent summer theatre at the Mountain Playhouse. Tours are available of two of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural masterpieces, Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. There are numerous state parks such as Ohiopyle, Laurel Hill and Laurel Ridge for those who like hiking and exploring. The Allegheny Highlands Rails to Trails winds it's way through several towns within minutes of Somerset for those who enjoy biking or walking. White water rafting, kayaking and canoeing are additional options at Ohiopyle State Park and swimming and boating are enjoyed at the Youghiogheny Reservoir.

For those interested in craft shows, festivals and antiques, there are many shops and frequent events held in Somerset or the surrounding areas. The festivals include Mountain Craft Days at the Somerset Historical Center, the Antique Fair held in the streets of downtown Somerset, the Jazz Festival, Wine & Food Festival and Octoberfest at Seven Springs Ski Resort, and many, many more.
